Quartz Stone and Traditional Architecture in Asir

White stones glistening under the sunlight…

Amid the towering mountains of Asir,

quartz stone emerged as one of the main elements in traditional building styles, becoming an integral part of the architectural identity of this region.

What sets quartz stone apart in Asir's traditional construction is its connection to cultural and social heritage.

Beyond being a building material, it was considered a symbol of pride among the locals, as homes adorned with quartz were seen as symbols of sophistication and status within the community.

We drew inspiration for the design of the “Maro” sculpture from this architectural heritage, aiming to revive that deep connection between humans and nature, between the past and the present.

Windows and doors were adorned with these radiant stones, standing as enduring symbols of the strength and resilience of these houses.

We drew inspiration from this timeless beauty, making it the foundation for the design of a porcelain art piece.

In Asir,

the ancients incorporated quartz stone, with its bright whiteness and distinctive purity, into the construction of their homes.

Skilled artisans meticulously

 hand-carved the Al-Qatt Al-Asiri pattern with unmatched precision،

Every element of this unique geometric design carries within it a story from the heritage, carefully transferred from the hands of the artists to the surface of the artwork.

The result is a piece that stands as a symbol of authenticity and innovation.

We chose the white color,

reminiscent of the pure quartz stones,

inspired by the pure hue of quartz stones a neutral shade symbolizing purity and simplicity while simultaneously reflecting elegance and sophistication.

This serene white, with its subtle gradients, accentuates the beauty of the geometric carvings on the artwork, adding a touch of balance between

modernity and heritage.
